Monte-Carlo SBM Casino gambling chips
Since its creation in 1863, the Casino de Monte-Carlo has been providing clients with gambling chips that they could use instead of money at the tables.
These high-quality chips were finely chiselled and inlaid and carved out of mother-of-pearl. They didn’t last long, however, due to the fragile materials used.
That’s why in 1927 they were replaced with synthetic tokens inlaid with mother-of-pearl made by Bourgogne et Grasset. To this day, the company has been working with Monte-Carlo SBM, designing the tokens, chips and dice of the group’s casinos.
For Monte-Carlo SBM’s 150-year anniversary, 500 “vintage” chips will be produced; these reproductions will be identical to the first version dating back to 1927. Each one will be numbered and the distribution will be limited. Moreover, other chips and token key rings will be made to commemorate the group’s 150th anniversary.
They will be available at the Monte-Carlo SBM shop at the end of April 2013 for amateurs and collectors alike!
