Famous New Year celebrations in Monte-Carlo

The famous Domergue posters say: “The chic people winter in Monte-Carlo”. That is certainly why Monaco has always been the destination of choice to celebrate the new year. This is also why the Société des Bains de Mer puts up festive holiday decorations on the famous Place du Casino every year.

Société des Bains de Mer establishments have welcomed dignitaries such as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor to celebrate the year 1938, Begum and Aristotle Onassis in 1956, Romy Schneider and Alain Delon in 1959, Martine Carol and Jean Leduc in 1961, and Onassis again in 1966 but with Maria Callas.
