A variety of professions dedicated to customers’ satisfaction

Few companies have brought together in 150 years of existence such a mixed batch of skills and specialities as the Société des Bains de Mer: hotel concierges, pastrycooks, florists, gaming staff, bouncers, electricians, decorators, and more. These are out-of-the-limelight skills that keep the machine running from behind the scenes and allow customers to receive excellent service.

Know-how, excellence and precision were the ingredients for the recipe of the unique experience offered by Société des Bains de Mer, as are those on offer today by the resort.

In its 150 years of existence the Societé has seen many celebrity clients, film-stars, crowned heads, artists, politicians, journalists and businessmen cross its threshold. Did they realise that with its thousands of employees, it was like a city within a city? The Société des Bains de Mer has always aimed to meet high standards of efficiency and speed: clients should be served as swiftly and effectively as possible. Quality concerts and dances, but also service and staff quality as François Blanc put it one day.

While the first croupiers and other gaming-room staff were brought in from Bad Homburg because François Blanc felt they were the most qualified due to their experience, many other countries were represented among the staff from the outset: Monegasques of course but also Italians, French, Belgians, Germans, etc.

Some skills no longer exist. This is true of various transport services that François Blanc implemented prior to the arrival of the railway: the Palmaria regularly sailed from Nice to Monaco, buses brought customers from La Turbie to Monte-Carlo, or even cars. While boats are no longer used today and Monaco is now easily accessible, the company still has an internal transport service that provides free shuttles for customers, as for instance from the Hôtel de Paris to Monte-Carlo Beach. Other jobs have disappeared over time: those that involved public utilities and include the gas plant or road maintenance; specialities in terms of entertainment.
