A new lifestyle: the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort
In the 2000s, it became necessary to increase the Principality’s hotel capacity. Sporting events, the development of business tourism and the constantly growing appeal of Monaco justified the building of a new hotel. The Société des Bains de Mer got to work.
Since 1974 and the creation of the Sporting d’Eté, SBM had benefited from an idyllic peninsula on which it decided to build a new hotel. There was, of course, no question of cloning its existing palatial hotels, the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo and the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo. For a new era, a new concept; as chic as ever, but more casual.
This time, the element of surprise would not consist of gilding or precious furnishings, but that of an astonishing sandy lagoon – one of its kind in Europe – set at the foot of the hotel, like a tribute to Florida. Occupying almost 10 acres of land, the lagoon and the Mediterranean gardens landscaped by Jean Mus are inviting and relaxing.
The Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort: a hotel dedicated to service
Inside the hotel, the 334 rooms benefit from a very diverse array of amenities: a vast indoor pool topped by a gigantic cupola reproducing a tropical climate, the Spa Cinq Mondes, the gastronomic Blue Bay restaurant, and of course – we are in Monaco, after all – a casino!
Since 2005, the hotel has achieved it aim of catering to a group clientele, and has also succeeded in attracting many private guests who see the hotel as a sunnier, more casual and relaxed alternative to Monaco’s traditional hotels.
A legend reborn
At ‘the Bay’, as it is known, it’s not rare to run into a few celebrities: tennis players in Monaco for the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, DJs or dance floor regulars at Jimmy’z, the club right next door to the hotel, or artists due to perform on the legendary stage of the nearby Salle des Etoiles.
One hundred and forty years after the inauguration of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, the Société des Bains de Mer has proved once again with the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort that it is more capable than ever of reinventing the legend of Monte-Carlo.
